Mission Statement

The mission of the Cornelia Connelly is to give girls from low-income
families a uniquely effective educational foundation, encompassing a
comprehensive middle school program, strong support through high school,
planning for higher education, and a vibrant alumnae community, which
together enable Connelly students to fulfill their potential and achieve
productive roles in society.

This is our specific expression of the shared mission of the Holy Child
Network of Schools: To endeavor, guided by the philosophy and
spirituality of Cornelia Connelly, to develop mature persons capable of
making choices which enrich their lives and contribute to the lives of
others.

Description

Focus:

  • We operate an excellent, neighborhood-based independent Catholic middle school on the Lower East Side of Manhattan to serve girls living in poverty, particularly those whose academic performance in primary grades has lagged, but who show promise of benefiting from a comprehensive program - intentionally small, nurturing and challenging - designed to meet their needs

  • We help our students develop the aspirations, confidence, skills and values they will need to succeed in high school and pursue higher education and careers.

  • We support middle school graduates through high school with a structured program of tuition assistance, study aid, and counseling, including guidance on college admissions.

  • We maintain relationships through college and beyond, providing a network of support to help alumnae overcome challenges to complete their degrees and embark on careers.
