Mission Statement

JWI is a community of women joining hands, hearts, and minds to promote peace-in families and in communities in the US, in Israel, and around the world. More than 75,000 JWI members, donors, and supporter work together in 200+ volunteer networks around the world.

Description

JWI sponsors a Prejudice Awareness Summit in communities around the US, one of which is Richmond, VA. The PAS is an intensive workshop that helps middle school students learn about diversity and discrimination. The Richmond PAS is entering its 3rd year but the actual PAS program has been around for 12 years-since 1991. To create the PAS, JWI builds coalitions of local groups that share its vision of safe families and communities. Student leaders from diverse ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrouns are invited to hear speakers and participate in interactive and group discussions. After the Summit, PAS participants create action plans for presenting programs on prejudice awareness to students in their home schools.
