Pacific Links Foundation (PALS) is seeking dedicated and energetic volunteers and interns. Volunteers and interns are essential to PALS' programmatic and fundraising activities. We are also open to ideas and projects that will benefit the organization and help you enhance your skills. Positions are unpaid and virtual work can be possible. Virtual Opportunity
Join us to help disadvantaged high school students in Vietnam practice and improve their English! Volunteer tutors will engage students in conversations in English and assist the students with their pronunciation, grammar, listening, and speaking skills. Each session (1-4 students) will be about 40-50 minutes and will be conducted over Zoom. A Pacific Links Foundation team member will be present to facilitate the session. We will also provide support and resources for lesson planning. You do not need to speak Vietnamese. Students come from the poorest areas of the Central and Mekong Delta provinces of Vietnam. REQUIREMENTS Internet access with decent speed. Device that connects to Zoom, preferably a laptop with keyboard and camera. Commitment of at least three (03) months and for at least 6 hours/month. 15+ years or older. If you are under 18, you must obtain consent of your parent/guardian. YOUR CHOICES Choose your own schedule: Students are available 7am-10pm Vietnam time (5pm-8am Pacific time PDT) on the weekend. On weekdays, they would be available 5pm-10pm. You can change this schedule any time. Choose students with the level of English that you want to engage with: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. You can change this selection any time. Join us as a virtual volunteer presenter to expand students' knowledge and skills! Coffee Time is a series of virtual workshops that help students build soft skills, self-awareness, and explore different career paths. Past workshops include Inner Transformation and Leadership, Finding Jobs during COVID, Women in IT, Self Branding, etc. See a list of sample topics: http://pacf.us/wstopics. As a volunteer presenter, you will conduct a 90-minutes workshop over Zoom for 30-40 students. A Pacific Links Foundation team member will be present to facilitate the session. We will also provide support and resources for workshop planning. YOUR STUDENTS 2,000+ scholarship students from the poorest areas of the Central and Mekong Delta provinces in Vietnam, who often have limited opportunities for guidance and career exploration.
