Mission Statement

Saving homeless pets, one at a time. . .

Our commitments

Our rescue operation is built on four unshakeable organizational commitments:

We are a no-kill organization

We affirm every pet's right to life and to human care and companionship. We euthanize on a very limited basis -- and never out of a need for space.

We provide a lifetime safety net

We will not submit our homeless pets to double jeopardy. If a pet loses its home any time after adoption, we readmit that pet into our rescue program and seek another placement.

We rescue without borders

Our rescue program gives due consideration to all homeless dogs and cats, irrespective of regional, state, or national origin. All homeless pets deserve to be saved!

Pets are our only priority

We rescue pets irrespective of their health status, and we give them the best possible medical care to cure their disease or reverse their condition. We pride ourselves on our stewardship. For every dollar received, more than 95 cents goes to the rescue, care, and placement of homeless pets. Volunteers provide all leadership and perform all administrative tasks in our organization, allowing us to hold administrative costs to a bare minimum.

Description

We are a non-profit animal welfare group committed to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of at-risk pets from pound facilities. We rescue dogs and cats from everywhere in Michigan -- and anywhere else there is a cat or dog in need. With our rescue shelter and foster homes, we have between 75 and 100 dogs and puppies and between 60 and 80 cats and kittens in our care at any time.

We are an an all-volunteer group with the exception of paid kennel staff. More than 95 percent of the money we receive is spent directly on animal rescue and rehabilitation. Our only sources of revenue are adoption fees, donations, and fundraising efforts.

We are a dedicated, no-kill organization. We provide comfortable and nurturing living quarters for homeless pets, even when a pet needs to stay with us for months or even longer while waiting for the right adoption match. We provide skilled and well-trained animal care providers at our renovated rescue shelter. We give each animal a medical check and medical care as needed. We talk with potential adopters and ask them to fill out an adoption application form to help us identify suitable matches for each animal and each adopter. All other organizational commitments and considerations remain secondary.
