First Night's mision is to broaden and deepen the public's appreciation of the visual and performing arts through an innovative, diverse and high qulaity New Year's Eve program which offers the community a shared cultural experience that is accessible and affordable to all.

Description

First Night is an alcohol free community celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is a major visual and performing arts festival created by and for the community to welcome the New Year. It is a celebration that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual and festivity. The name "First Night" symbolizes this forward look, over the technically correct "Last Night" Activities include numerous professional and talented musicians, artists, performance groups and exhibitors who participate at mulitple venues in downtown Hartford.
