Description

REAP International is a nonprofit organization that offers opportunities for students and adults to go abroad as volunteers, interns or tourists. REAP is involved with rural development and youth leadership programs overseas. Most of our work is done in the Lake Baikal region of Siberia. (See our Website: www.reapintl.com) We try to bring to Russia's rural communities what they need for the realization of their strategies for self-sustainability We are aware that many Americans do not have an objective view of Russia. Our programs have been aimed at making visitors into detectives in order that they can make up their own minds. This has been our approach at Baikal and now we apply the approach to Moscow. All our programs include 1) A thorough orientation, including pretrip materials. 2) Trip structure aimed at the needs and interests of participants and groups. 3) Experiences that reveal the real Russia we love. 4) Discussions of what persons have seen and experienced. 5) Cultural elements that show Russia in transition. Our goal is true educational tourism.
