Mission Statement

The Northern Arizona Food Bank's (NAFB) mission is to transport, store and distribute food and commodities to thousands of Arizona's most impoverished. Working in conjunction with existing social service agencies, churches, civic organizations and national hunger relief organizations, NAFB is determined to wipe out malnutrition and extinguish the flames of hunger in Northern Arizona.

Description

The Northern Arizona Food Bank (NAFB) was established by Feed My People International (FMPI) in 1986 to provide supplemental nutrition and hunger relief to impoverished individuals and families residing in Northern Arizona. Since that time, NAFB has grown from serving a few hundred individual's and family's needs, to providing supplemental nutrition and life's essentials to thousands of needy families each month. In conjunction with serving the needs of Northern Arizona's most needy families and individuals, NAFB has also become a major participant in the transportation and distribution of food for other Arizona food banks, soup kitchens, pantries, chapter houses, senior centers, schools, churches, outreach projects, and women's shelters throughout Northern Arizona. NAFB also assists community recreational and cultural activities such as the Flagstaff Special Olympics and National Youth Sports Program. Additionally, NAFB/FMPI has assisted in food distribution to other states across the country on an as needed basis for disaster relief. In 2001, NAFB shipped and distributed 5,870,491 pounds of food to supplement the needs of thousands of individuals and families.
