"Helping People Help Themselves" Beginning its second century of services, the Educational Alliance, based in New York City, provides innovative programs and services.
Today the Educational Alliance is a settlement house, community center and social service agency with expanded programs and services that have changed to meet the identified current needs of a diverse city population. Many programs are developed for the mentally or socially impaired because no services exist. Other programs are created to provide educational and cultural opportunities in a city where public programs are in short supply due to budgetary constraints. The Alliance addresses almost every conceivable human problem and need - aging, drug abuse, early childhood, homelessness, parenting psychiatric impairment and retardation - as well as providing cultural enrichment programs along a broad spectrum. The Educational Alliance has been known for innovative programs that have served as models for other agencies throughout the nation in the social service field including the Settlement House Movement and the Jewish Communal Services area. Today, the Educational Alliance continues that tradition, having expanded its services to include not only the Lower East Side of Manhattan, but the Lower West Side as well. We remain committed to our goal of "Helping People Help Themselves."
