Mission Statement

To contribute to the process of building the sound financial infrastructure required by countries seeking to develop transparent, market-oriented economies.

Description

FSVC is a private, not-for-profit organization that channels volunteer technical expertise from the U.S. financial services community into countries making the transition to market economies. FSVC is active in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and recently began to expand activities into other geographic areas. FSVC Volunteers work directly with senior officials from these countries on results-oriented, short-term projects aimed at improving the financial market infrastructure. Programs address central and commercial banking, capital markets, insurance, and pension reform. Assistance often includes drafting legislation and regulations, training regulators, advising policy makers and assisting in the development of basic financial products and services. We also bring representatives of our client institutions to the United States for consultations with their American counterparts. Assignments typically last between one and two weeks, although slightly longer projects occasionally arise. FSVC covers all costs associated with the project, such as airfare, hotel, meals and incidental expenses. As a Volunteer, you contribute your time and expertise.
