Mission Statement

Founded in 1983, the Literacy Assistance Center (LAC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides essential referral, training, information and technical assistance services to hundreds of adult and youth literacy programs in New York. Our mission is to support and promote the expansion of quality literacy services in New York.

Description

The Literacy Assistance Center's mission is to support and promote the expansion of quality literacy services. As the only comprehensive, specialized literacy resource center in New York City, each year the LAC serves approximately 2,500 literacy practitioners, who, in turn, help more than 55,000 adults and youth (both U.S. and foreign-born) improve their reading, writing, math, and technology skills.
