Our mission is to speak for the best interests of abused, neglected, and abandoned children in the courts of Riverside County.

We promote and support quality volunteer representation for each child to secure a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.

We are diligent advocates for the services needed to help each child become a healthy and productive adult, able to break the chain of abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Description

Position Title:

Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

Purpose:

CASA volunteers provide advocacy for a child in the foster care system.

Key responsibilities:

The CASA volunteer:

(1) visits the child frequently;

(2) submits written reports for all child’s hearings;

(3) attends court with the child;

(4) ensures that the child’s essential needs are met, the court’s orders are carried out and that any violations of the court’s orders are brought to the attention of the court.

Time Commitment:

Applicants must attend a 1 hour orientation prior to acceptance and complete a 30 hour training program.

CASA volunteers must donate 10-15 hours per month for the duration of their assigned child’s case or 18-24 months.

Qualifications:

Eligible candidates include adults over 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and insured automobile who pass a criminal history record check.

Must have email access.

Support:

Training for this position will be provided. In addition, volunteers will be assigned to a Case Supervisor for continuous assistance.
