Mission Statement

MENTOR is a nonprofit organization serving as a resource and advocate for mentors and mentoring programs across the country. We work to promote quality mentoring and to help connect caring adult mentors with young people in need of positive role models.

Description

For youth mentoring programs, please see our Elements of Effective Practice Toolkit, available in English and Spanish languages. The Elements Toolkit will save you time and effort as it contains over 160 tools and templates, materials and information you need to enhance and maintain a quality mentoring program. You may download the entire Toolkit free of charge at www.mentoring.org/eeptoolkit.

We also invite youth mentoring programs to enroll in our National Mentoring Database and volunteer referral service at www.mentoring.org.

In partnership with the FBI, MENTOR is pleased to make nationwide fingerprint-based background checks available to any mentoring program in the country. Through SafetyNET, each FBI background check costs $18, and results are delivered within 3-5 business days. You may register your program for SafetyNET by visiting www.mentoring.org/safetynet.
