Mission Statement

Promote a cleaner, healthier, more prosperous watershed that is more attractive to all stakeholders and is better managed to withstand the impacts of flooding.

Description

The Upper Guyandotte Watershed Association (UGWA) was officially founded in December 2002 in response to the water quality problems that have negatively affected our communities. Our watershed is located in the southern coalfields of West Virginia, from the headwaters of the Guyandotte River downstream to the mouth of Pinnacle Creek. UGWA is a grassroots, community-based organization working to reduce sources of pollution in order to clean up our streams and make our watershed a better place to live.
