Mission Statement

It is the mission of Lee's Place to provide counseling and educational services to those who are adjusting to a loss. Some of these losses include divorce, abandonment (foster care children and adoptees), death, imprisonment, and life transitions. Fees for counseling are adjusted according to the client's ability to pay so that a family's economic status is not a barrier to receiving services.

Description

Founded in 2000 by Dr. Brenda Rabalais, Lee's Place is named in memory of her son, Lee, who died of bone cancer at the age of 14. In her healing process, Dr. Rabalais created a place where grieving children and families can go to express their sorrow and get the support they so desperately need within the confines of a warm and nurturing environment. Lee's Place views grief as a natural response to a loss and as its objective, Lee's Place seeks to help those who are grieving integrate the loss into their lives, fostering a new and broader sense of wholeness within themselves.
