Mission Statement

The Longwood Manor Historical Society was formed to renovate and serve the Longwood Manor House located in Longwood Park in the City of Macedonia, Ohio. The Manor was built by the first mayor of Macedonia, Col William Frew Long on his 300 acre farm., Built in 1924, the home is classic Tudor style architecture with 3 floors, 17 rooms, and 5 bathrooms similar to estates built by the wealthy in the early 1900's, Col Long served 3 terms as Macedonia's first mayor from 1962 to 1975, He was 96 when he left office and was the oldest Mayor in U.S. history. He lived to be 103 years old, He was a veteran of both world wars, flying the Jenny biplanes in France in ww1, He was also the oldest living U.S. veteran at the time of his death

Description

We are a volunteer group of residents recognized by the City of Macedonia as the Longwood Manor Committee., Our goal is to restore and renovate the former estate of Colonel William Frew Long first mayor of Macedonia and oldest Mayor in the United States.

We are looking for volunteers to help with the restoration, in particular landscaapers and carpenters, Materials supplied.
