Description

Living and Learning By the Arts has received the Community Arts Grant 2002-2003 for "Kids and the classics-Piano" and "Kids and the Classics-Movement." The CAG is a regrant of the New York State Council on the Arts and the Bronx Council on the Arts. A pianist and dancer will work with children in the Soundview section of the Bronx teaching their craft. The children will showcase their talents in a performance and recital to the community. Living and Learning By the Arts offers programs in the visual, literary and performance arts for children and adults: "Kids and the Classics" introduces children to the classic arts (pre-school-high school, literacy) and offers opportunities to young artists to showcase their works); The Literary Cove: creative writing, poetry reading, Mommy and Me Story Time; Visual Arts: paint, draw, paper art, arts and crafts, sculpture on glass, create personal greeting cards, etc.; Performance "Kids and the Classics," community centers, schools, parks, concerts, cultural events; Seminars: "Creative Parenting" offer parents helpful tips for developing their innate intuitin and maximizing their child's potential. Seminars are for expectant families, and throughout the child's developing years, as well as parents of children with special needs. Lucy Aponte, Founder and Director of LLBA has in the past received a Book Binder's Grant from the Literacy Assistance Center to create a mini library at Jacobi Hospital's Pediatric Center for an innovative tutoring program.
