Mission Statement

The mission of the Aircraft Carrier Hornet Foundation (ACHF) is to restore the U.S.S. Hornet, a National Historic Landmark, for use as a U.S. Naval Air and Sea Museum, a naval historical and technology education center, and much-loved ceremonial ship. Our goal is to preserve for current and future generations of Americans the proud legacy of Hornet, and the distinguished tradition of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. We will establish Hornet as a community resource -- a teacher of naval history, science, and leadership for young people, an important cultural event center, and an intriguing people-friendly family recreation and entertainment destination.

The USS Hornet Museum is a highly decorated WWII Essex Class Aircraft Carrier (CV12) that also served as the recovery ship for Apollo 11 & 12 the first men to walk on the moon walked on her decks.
