Mission Statement
The San Jose Day Nursery promotes child development, parent empowerment, and community resilience. Six programs provide child care and parent and community support.
Description
To meet parent needs, the Nursery cares for children six weeks of age through the fifth grade. Our programs provide increased curriculum and developmental support for a difficult-to-care-for and under-served child population.
The Nursery continues to pursue collaboration with other agencies in remedying causes of homelessness. Our caring for children of in-transition families enables parents to acquire education and training, which lead to employability and future self-sufficiency. The Nursery furnishes a nurturing environment that enhances children's skills, attitudes, and self-esteem, all essential for success in the elementary years a critical step in breaking the cycle of poverty.
Located in one of the countys lowest income, yet most diverse, neighborhoods, the Nursery provides economic and cultural accessibility through sliding scale fees and care that is sensitive to and meets the needs of the community. Founded in 1916, the Nursery continues to serve the same community and its needs.
