Mission Statement

Oregon MESA is a pre-college educational program dedicated to supporting historically underrepresented students to pursue careers in mathematics, engineering, and science. A program of the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Portland State University, MESA currently operates in the Portland and Salem metropolitan areas. MESA components complement traditional classroom activities in middle and high school. Funding and support for the program comes through Portland State University, private and corporate donations, foundation grants, in-kind contributions from participating school districts, volunteers and community organizations.

Description

1. Increase the numbers of ethnic minority and female youth recruited and retained by Oregon MESA 2. Strive to ensure that MESA students develop skills and aptitude to excel in mathematics, engineering and science curricula and careers. 3. Connect MESA students with careers related to mathematics, engineering and science professions. 4. Develop, implement, and support high quality creative instruction for MESA students on a continual basis. 5. Strengthen and create partnership among students, their families, graduates, schools, community, industry, government and higher education for Oregon MESA.
