Mission Statement
To make a positive difference in the lives of children and youth, primarily through a professionally supported one-to-one relationship with a caring adult, and to assist them in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become confident, competent, and caring individuals, by providing committed volunteers, national leadership, and standards of excellence. The goal of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to provide a mentor to every child in Dutchess County that needs one.
Description
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dutchess County offers 2 mentoring program for children between the ages of 6 and 15. Volunteer mentors are matched one on one with children in either the Community Based Program or the School Based Program. Children who are supported by an additional positive adult role model experience and increase in self-confidence, academic achievement, classroom participation and behaviors, and relationship with adults and peers.
