Mission Statement

Flying Free Equitherapy's mission is dedicated, through its professional staff and volunteers, to providing a therapeutic horsemanship program for the benefit of the mentally, physically and emotionally challenged and learning disabled, at the same time insuring the safety and well-being of the horses, the students, the volunteers and the staff. Through the guidance of our trained medical, professional and volunteer staff and advisory board, we provide both life enrichment and therapeutic value, incorporating horsemanship, and a farm program to our students while helping them to develop self-esteem. Flying Free will accept and encourage participation of any child or adult into our program, regardless of race, color, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin.

Description

Our purpose is to help the physically and cognitively disabled community and those with chronic medical conditions through Equine Assisted Therapy From the beginning, riders learn balance, coordination, and self-assurance while receiving therapeutic muscle stimulation. As a result of carefully planned lessons: poise, posture, strength and flexibility improve. A strong sense of responsibility develops as the rider learns to take part in the care of the horses and equipment. Lessons can be focused towards obtaining life skills Tremendous educational benefits. Students tend to learn faster and easier on the back of a horse. Advanced equestrian skills, teamwork, and cooperation are learned as the rider becomes independent on horseback. Classes, horse shows, and events encourage confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of accomplishment as new levels of expertise and new goals are met.
