Mission Statement

Mission of Emmaus House The mission of Emmaus House is to provide hope and hospitality to our neighbors in Peoplestown and beyond. Through a variety of programs for children, adults and seniors, we strive to be the love of Christ incarnate in our immediate community and to form relationships that embody the reconciling love of God. An integral part of our vocation is also to provide a setting in which members of God's household in the Diocese of Atlanta and beyond can share ministry experiences that broaden their understanding of the gospel call to "strive for justice and peace among all people."

Description

Emmaus House is an innner-city ministry located in Peoplestown, near Turner Field in Atlanta. Since 1967 it has been a place for advocacy, hospitality,and building relationships across lines of race, class, income and geography. Through a variety of programs for children, adults, seniors and families, it offers educational, social, recreational and spiritual opportunities. Additionally, through its Poverty Rights Office, it assists persons in receiving fair and just treatment from public and private organizations with which they have business.
