The League for People with Disabilities is committed to offering individuals the opportunity to gain independence through: Plans of service addressing each client's individual needs and preferences Rehabilitative and support programs Integration of people of all abilities into the community at-large Public advocacy and collaboration.
The League runs several programs including: Two Adult Medical Day Programs (1 is for seniors) for people needing some assistance to remain independent in the community; The Wellness Center is a fitness center open to anyone--it is completely accessible and has a heated therapeutic swimming pool; The Vocational and Supported Employment Programs provide support to individuals in the workplace or looking to reenter it; The Learning Center provides Basic Adult Education and 1:1 tutoring from volunteers; Camp Greentop, in western Maryland, provides camp sessions for children and adults with a wide variety of abilities--they are now beginning a year-round therapeutic recreation program.
