Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Working together to keep every child safe from harm.
Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) was founded in 1982 for the purpose of preventing child abuse and neglect. For over 29 years, CAPS and its corps of committed volunteers, each professionally and extensively trained in various areas of child abuse and neglect, have reached more than 650,000 Long Islanders with its "Prevention Through Education" programs -- programs that have been enriched and broadened over time to reflect the changing needs of the community and the changing scope of the abuse and neglect issue. With programs addressing child abuse, bullying, Internet safety, sexual harassment awareness and prevention and date/acquaintance rape awareness and prevention, CAPS is Long Island's leading organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and neglect.
