MISSION STATEMENT To help youth at risk develop skills and values that will help them become resilient to the influences that would cause them to reject the ideals and values of society through caring mentor relationships and participation in community opportunities.

Description

Youth and Families with Promise (YFP) is a community program encompassing all of Weber County and administered through Weber County Extension. We provide volunteer one-on-one mentors for youth ages 10-14 who are county residents as well as monthly involvement for the entire family. Each volunteer mentor is given a Criminal Background check, personal interview, and reference check. YFP mentors are recruited through Weber State University, community organizations, educational societies, and various other resources. While our mentors are volunteers throughout the community they all have a desire to help improve our community and the life of a child. Additionally, YFP has a monthly Family Night Out (FNO). This is an opportunity for families to spend one evening a month together and improve their communication and family bonds. Most FNOĆ¢ s include dinner, social time, and a family experiential learning opportunity at no charge to the families. While attending FNO our Grand Mentors are available for parental and family support.
