Mission Statement

Art Works Downtown, Inc.'s principal purpose is to establish and maintain a charitable center for the arts in downtown San Rafael; to assist the City in its plan to revitalize and redevelop the city with emphasis on culture and history; to encourage artistic activities; to educate the public and increase its appreciation of art; and to strengthen the relationship between artists, arts organizations, and the larger community.

Description

By owning and maintaining a center for the arts on Fourth Street, Art Works Downtown plays a significant role in revitalizing and redeveloping San Rafael with emphasis on culture and history. AWD works to encourage artistic activities in San Rafael in six program areas: Studios, Exhibitions, Education, Events, Housing, Outreach, & Fund Raising
