Program Overview The Housing Program offers support to individuals with disabilities and older adults, aiding them in effectively navigating housing options and securing sustainable housing solutions tailored to their specific needs. Housing services include information and referrals, housing navigation, deposit assistance, tenancy/sustainability support, and housing education through workshops. Support may also be given on an as-needed basis to the Community Transitions Program, which assists individuals who are in skilled nursing facilities to move back into the community. Responsibilities Help promote workshops and send reminders to registered attendees. Create flyers for workshops and events. Research potential presenters for monthly presentations. Locate housing resources and provide them to staff members. Research skilled nursing facilities in OC and gather contact information. (Transitions) Work with consumers to build a list of items needed to furnish their new homes. (Housing & Transitions) Log all communications with consumers and provide notes to staff members. Log the amount of time it takes to finish each task. Program Overview Our Youth Services Program is all about skill-building and learning new things while having fun with other young people on the weekends! Young individuals with disabilities between the ages of 14-24 who live in Orange County are eligible to join. This program is perfect for young people with disabilities who want to make friends, receive mentorship, and participate in exciting group activities. Sessions occur on the first Friday of each month in Mission Viejo and on select 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays in Anaheim. Responsibilities Help brainstorm new activities for youth group sessions. Be there to support youth and create a comfortable and inclusive environment during group sessions. Check in with youth to make sure everyone’s enjoying themselves and sessions run smoothly. Provide support to youth during lunch if needed like heating meals, opening items, and offering sighted guide. Assist the Lead Youth and Information Coordinator in preparing for the Youth Summer Academy. Desired Qualities Fun and outgoing team player Experience working with youth Personal experience with a disability CPR/First Aid Training Requirements Available from 10am to 4pm on the 2nd, 3rd and/or 4th Saturdays of each month Available from 4pm to 7pm on the first Friday of each month Complete the interview, pass a background check, and attend orientation Wear a face mask in the office Log volunteer hours after every shift Keep the Volunteer Coordinator informed about any changes or concerns Minimum 4 hours of service per month Maintain the confidentiality of Dayle McIntosh Center information Schedule Youth sessions are held on the first Friday of each month in Mission Viejo from 4pm-7pm and the second, third and fourth Saturday of each month in Anaheim from 10am-4pm. You are not required to attend every week, you can choose to join one, some, or all of them based on your availability. Location Sessions take place in Anaheim and Mission Viejo depending on the week. The exact locations will be provided after you're approved to volunteer. Youth sessions do not take place at our Anaheim office. COVID-19 Policy Volunteering with in person groups requires COVID-19 vaccinations. Program Overview Our Deaf Services Program empowers d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals with resources and support to succeed. The program offers various forms of assistance from daily living skills to benefits counseling, housing services, peer support, and driver’s license readiness. Quarterly workshops and Deaf Sensitivity Training sessions are also provided. Responsibilities Create educational materials to promote ASL learning. Help teach useful ASL terms to individuals who are learning sign language. Assist with teaching d/Deaf consumers how to use digital communication tools such as Zoom, email, and video phones while offering guidance on proper etiquette for each tool. Help d/Deaf consumers learn how to schedule appointments and how to avoid calendar conflicts. Teach consumers how to utilize different techniques of housing search and give them a better understanding of how to be proactive in their search. Offer encouragement and support to d/Deaf consumers. Log all communications with consumers and provide notes to staff members. Program Overview Our Reception/Information & Referral Team is the welcoming face of the Dayle McIntosh Center which offers information to the community about our services. They play an important role in creating a positive experience for everyone who connects with DMC and ensure everything is running smoothly. Responsibilities Welcome visitors to the Dayle McIntosh Center and offer accommodation assistance if needed. Answer incoming phone calls, connect calls to team members, and take messages. Log all phone communications and provide notes to the Reception team after every shift. Respond to inquiries for information and locate and provide resources. Assist with scanning, copying, filing, data entry, and mailing support as needed. Notify team members when consumers arrive for appointments. Help keep a neat and organized reception area. Update our community resource lists. Translate housing resources into different languages.
