Transporation Drivers for Seniors

SENIOR TRANSPORTATION... Do you have a valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a vehicle? Are you at least 21 years of age? Do you like to drive? Do you have a passion for helping others? The Senior Services Transportation Program of Elgin is seeking Kane County residents willing to give back to the community, and put their time to valuable use. Volunteers use their personal vehicles to transport homebound seniors aged 60 years and older to doctor visits and legal appointments. Under the AmeriCorps umbrella, volunteers determine their service perimeters based on availability. Our Agency offers back-up automobile insurance, and volunteers can choose to be reimbursed for gas mileage. Drivers must be 21 years of age or older, have a valid driver’s license, carry valid auto insurance, and consent to a background check. Mileage reimbursement available!. Make a difference for Northern Kane County seniors!

DRIVERS NEEDED for Food Box Deliveries to Seniors

Our Food for Seniors program delivers and distributes pre-packaged Food Boxes to local senior citizens in need. We distribute/deliver twice monthly, on the second and fourth Fridays. Typically the time investment is 1 to 2 hours, depending on how many boxes you sign-up to deliver. This is a NO CONTACT delivery. Volunteer driver pulls up to Food for Greater Elgin. Volunteers load the cars. Driver will be given the delivery sheets for the number of boxes they have requested. Deliveries are mapped in one general area for convenience. Each box weighs about 20 - 25 lbs. Pick-up between 1:30 pm & 2:00 pm. Please contact Senior Services to learn more abut how you can serve. 847-741-0404 ext. 124

AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP -Habitat ReStore, Elgin, IL

Habitat for Humanity ReStore Elgin is a resale store, open to the public, selling new and gently used building materials, appliances and furniture. Sales of donated merchandise generates proceeds that go into building Habitat homes in our area. They need volunteers to help at every phase of the operation. You select the day and times (as little as 4 hours). Types of activities where we need volunteers: Processing donations: cleaning and assembly of donated items; Tool bench: repairing small motors, assembling furniture Sales Floor: assist customers Warehouse: unload donations from vehicles, help customers load purchases into their own vehicles; Shifts: you pick your shift.
