Description

As a volunteer for Victim Assistance Center, you will be trained to offer the following confidential services: 24-Hour Hotline -a trained advocate is always available for crisis counseling, to answer questions and make referrals. 24-Hour Hospital Accompaniment - a trained advocate is always available to be with a client at the emergency room, clinic or private physician's office. Community Outreach - as a volunteer you will be able to help present our services and other educational materials to the community at health fairs and other community events. Volunteering For The VAC can sometimes be painful and difficult. Supporting a victim through a difficult experience and providing a caring presence can be physically and emotionally draining. Yet the rewards are GREAT. Small smiles of appreciation, occasional hugs, and the knowledge that you have made adifference in someone's life make it all worthwhile. Knowing that because of you, someone did not suffer alone...that you helped ease fear and pain...that you helped on the long read towards healing... These are the moments long remembered.
