Mission Statement

YASA, is a not-for-profit Statewide membership organization that acts on behalf of individuals with Special Abilities and their families, and develops programs that promote health in every day living. YASA will among other things, maintain a network and support group throughout New York State, a toll-free family help line, various public education programs and resources, sponsor educational seminars and programs for consumers and professionals, provide input into policy development, and offer the FACTS (Family Advocacy, Counseling and Training Services Program) program to link individuals who have special needs developed before age 22 with the Greek-American community-based resources and support. The purpose of this agency is to provide human services to our community's disabled persons. With your support, we plan to offer the following bilingual services to YASA members and guests: · Residential Services:o Community Residence, Supportive apartment, and IRA (individual Residential Alternatives) · Vocational Services:o Job Training and Placement, Residential Habilitation.o Day habilitation.· Home services:o Personal and domestic hygiene, meal preparation and service.o Counseling for developmentally disabled persons and/or their families.· Social and recreational. o Young Adult group, Adult Social group. o Caregiver Respite.

Description

YASA - Young Adults with Special Abilities - is a newly incorporated service agency, with both Tax-Exempt and Non-Profit Status under IRS Regulations 501(b) and 501(c)(3). As a non-profit organization, built by, and belonging to persons with developmental disabilities, the Board Members and volunteers primarily advocate on behalf of these less fortunate individuals and their families. All persons with special abilities will qualify for YASA services. The purpose of this agency is to provide human services to our community's disabled persons.
