Description

Homewaters Project is an educational organization located in the Thornton Creek watershed on North Seattle Community College's campus. We believe that a sustainable future for the Puget Sound region depends on young people becoming informed and engaged citizens who recognize that they have the power to make a difference in their home communities. We strive to achieve our mission through education programs; Watershed Ecology, Community Mapping and Exploring Place; as well as maintaining and expanding a digital library and website. All of our school programs use the science inquiry method and are question driven. They are linked to existing school curricula and address academic standards. We provide training and support to teachers and lead field trips through our Watershed Ecology programs. Homewaters Project also hosts community and family walks and events. Our staff includes experienced educators and administrators. We have a Board of Directors and an honorary Stewards Council to provide leadership and oversight to the organization. We receive finacial and volunteer support from numerous businesses, government agencies, schools and individuals.
