Mission Statement

"Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation works with providers, government and business to maintain and improve the delivery of quality, appropriate, timely and cost effective health care services to all patients." A nonprofit, physician sponsored organization designated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) as Alabama's Medicare Quality Improvement Organization (QIO). AQAF serves to improve the quality of health care by promoting cooperation with physicians and providers, by monitoring and interpreting patterns of health care and sharing the resulting information.

Description

The contract will run from November 1, 2002 through October 31, 2005. In this new contract, AQAF will be improving health and safety for people with Medicare by: 1) Improving the quality of care in hospitals, nursing homes, home health agencies, physician offices and Medicare + Choice organizations, as well as for underserved and rural beneficiaries, 2) Promoting the use of performance data and transitioning to hospital generated data, and 3) Beneficiary protection activities.
