Description
The Sacramento Foster Grandparent Program is a nationally recognized program that recruits senior volunteers to work with children at various sites in the Sacramento metropolitan area. The program assists children with special needs by helping them learn new skills and by building self-esteem through tutoring and mentoring. They also nurture premature babies, help rebuild trust in children who have been neglected or abused, or support those who have long term health problems. Foster Grandparents in turn receive the deep satisfaction of knowing that they have improved the lives of children with genuine needs.
When you are accepted into the program you will receive benefits above and beyond the personal satisfaction that comes from helping others in real need. Foster Grandparents receive these additional benefits:
· Non-taxable stipend
· Reimbursement against transportation expense
· A physical examination
· Extensive training
