The Arthritis Foundation, Virginia Chapter's mission is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, contol and cure of arthritis and related diseases.
Description
The Arthritis Foundation, Virginia Chapter works to fight arthritis in many ways. The chapter funds peer-reviewed arthritis research, including three Virginia researchers. In the area of Public Health, the chapter collaborates with several wellness partners to offer both land based and aquatics exercise programs. The Virginia Chapter hosts an annual juvenile arthritis weekend for children and families. In the area of public policy, the Arthritis Foundation, Virginia Chapter recruits and educates Arthritis Advocates across the state who work to inform lawmakers about arthritis related legislation. Several volunteers travel to Capital Hill each year to meet with legislators about the importance of arthritis funding.
