Manhattanville College

Description

MC-STEP s primarily comprised of students from Westchester County middle and senior high schools ranging from grade 8 to 12. Students attend a yearlong program beginning in the summer for 4 weeks, followed by 10 Saturdays in both Fall and Spring. The participants attend classes that are designed to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills. Academic courses are taught in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, General Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Computers. At the heart of the curriculum are hands-on laboratory science modules and challenging mathematics instruction. Participants of MC-STEP are exposed to: * Instructional support, academic advising and tutorials. * Preparation for Regents and SAT exams. * Enrichment activities such as college visits, conferences, workshops and field trips. * Current Manhattanville College Students who serve as tutors and mentors. * The college application process. * Motivational and informational speakers from professional business organizations such as law, business, and engineering firms, as well as medical associations.
