The mission of Vita-Living is to provide lifelong services and supports for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to promote personal growth toward a safe, satisfying, and meaningful life in their community. Description
Vita-Living, Inc. is a Houston-based 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization founded in 1982 by Renee and Stan Wallace, the parents of a son with a severe developmental disability. According to the United Cerebral Palsy "A Case of Inclusion" yearly report, Texas has ranked in the bottom ten states since 2006 for community-based programs to support those with developmental disabilities. Texas has a waiting list of over 60,000 individuals for Home and Community-based Services programs, with the current wait time of up to 11 years. Currently, Vita-Living, Inc. provides support services to over 500 clients through three major Medicaid programs in Harris, Ft. Bend, Brazoria, Montgomery, Galveston, Matagorda, and Waller counties.
