Mission Statement

It is the mission of Carver Community Center, Inc. to respond to the varied needs of individuals and families living in the City and County of Schenectady and to continue to develop new initiatives to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

Description

The Carver Community Center Youth Services Program offers structured, pro-social services to children, ages 7 to 16, in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood and the City of Schenectady. The program stresses self-esteem building, decision making skill development, leadership, education and teamwork.

The program currently runs from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with scheduled activities each day. Participant brings their homework and must complete the assignments before engaging in the "fun" activities.

The Youth Services Program enjoys the participation the Hamilton Hill Family Resource Center / Northeast Parent & Child Society in helping to develop strong young adults.
The staff encourages them to be responsible and to show leadership in their own community. Participation allows them to express themselves verbally, as well as creatively. Our youths interact with individual staff members, helping our participants to develop a vision and a plan of action for their future.
