Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
We are a unique computer training program that teaches individuals with physical or visual challenges in the Chicago area. Through computers and assistive technology, our clients become more self-sufficient and independent members of the community. All of our training is at no-cost to the students.
Donka, located in Wheaton, strives to remain state of the art in computer technology and teaching techniques. Twenty computer stations, combined with an inventory of cutting edge assistive technology and certified teaching, ensures success.
A volunteer will come in weekly in the computer lab and work wtih graduates of the computer training program during the afternoons, evenings and weekends. The volunteers open the lab for "free time" for 2 hours and assist the graduates by setting them up by the computers, and assisting them with general computer questions.
Volunteers should have basic computer knowledge and be friendly. Many of our graduates are in wheelchairs and need a hand to get their tasks accomplished.
