The University of Kansas Physicians (UKP) is a separate not-for-profit corporation principally located at the main KUMC campus at 39 th and Rainbow Blvd. It was incorporated in 1996 and is governed by the faculty physicians affiliated with the School of Medicine of the University of Kansas. There are approximately 400+ faculty physicians organized into 18 clinical and academic departments. UKP is the largest and most comprehensive multi-specialty medical group in the Kansas City area and the State of Kansas, our main service areas. UKP has an Affiliation Agreement with both the University and Hospital Public Authority, which gives UKP primary responsibility to provide physician care to patients’ at KUMC and affiliated locations.

UKP’s 780 plus support staff employees assist the faculty physicians in the patient care activities that they perform. The faculty physicians also have the additional responsibility of teaching medical students and residents, as well as, conducting academic based medical research.

In support of the patient community, UKP opened a new six-story, 220 exam room, Medical Office Building on the corner of Olathe Boulevard and Cambridge Street in August 2011. It is the first campus building to meet US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
