Mission Statement

SAINT PAUL MUSIC ACADEMY PROVIDES STUDENTS WITH RIGOROUS ACADEMICS, FEATURING VOCAL AND INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC EDUCATION, WHILE BUILDING FAMILY AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS IN A WELCOMING ENVIRONMENT.

Description

The Saint Paul Music Academy provides students with rigorous academics, featuring vocal and instrumental music education, while building family and community partnerships in a welcoming environment. The Academy is an Achievement Plus school that supports student’s families and the community by providing access to basic needs, employment counseling, mental health services and tutoring. As a Language Academy we welcome new immigrants and their families by providing the needed support to learn English and succeed in school. This year North End Elementary and Franklin Music Magnet merged to create the Saint Paul Music Academy. At North End 58% of students tested proficient in reading on last year's MCA test and 64% were proficient in math. 46% of Franklin's students were proficient in reading and 57% in math. To succeed our students need to not only keep up, but to accelerate their learning. Community involvement is a crucial aspect to the successes that the Academy can achieve in the upcoming school year.

SPMA is a wonderful school with great staff and students. As an AmeriCorps member I understand the importance of feeling like part of the team when volunteering. The staff is very appreciative of the volunteers and the work they do in our school. As the volunteer coordinator I make it my mission to make sure volunteers are gaining the experiences they want in their volunteer position. I match volunteers with staff who can encourage and strengthen the volunteer's personal talents and goals. I strive to know what inspired the volunteer to help at our school and what they want to gain from their personalized volunteer experience. I hope you too will consider volunteering at the Saint Paul Music Academy!
