Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide events and experiences that encourage a safe connection between men and boys, assisting boys on their journey to manhood by helping them discover their individual strengths and gifts, challenging them to live lives of responsible action, and guiding them into having a meaningful impact in their world.

Description

The Desert Men’s Council, Inc. (DMC). is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, established in 2008, with the mission of providing safe and supportive connections between men and boys. We do this through our monthly Men’s Hut activities, our Rite of Passage Adventure Weekends and Journeymen Groups or J-Groups for young males initiated on our weekends.

In our activities we welcome boys 14 to 17 and men of all ages. In our work we place a priority on initiates and men from the greater Tucson, AZ village. We also place a priority on initiates from single parent families, because of the special challenges they face.

In all of our activities, we model, talk about, and hold up a positive vision of manhood for boys that includes themes such as honesty, accountability, responsibility, integrity, authenticity, camaraderie, openness, playfulness, discovery, honor, caring, self-awareness, emotional vulnerability, courage, leadership . . . and more.
