Dress for Success is an international non-profit that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to thrive in work and in life.
Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has expanded to more than 100 cities in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, the UK, Mexico, Polandand the West Indies. To date, Dress for Success has helped more than 550,000 women work towards self-sufficiency. Visit www.dressforsuccess.org to learn more.
Dress for Success Quad Cities was incorporated as a 501c3 nonprofit in April 2011 and started suiting women in November 2011. As of January 2015, we have suited over 450 women with interview and employment attire. We offer mock interviews and other employment resources.
We launched the Professional Women's Group (PWG) in 2013. This employment retention program provides monthly workshops in four areas: work/life balance, health/wellness, written/unwritten rules of the workplace & financial literacy. Networking time is always included so newly employed women can make new friends as they re-invent themselves and continue toward self-sufficiency.
The Career Success Center has been launched in 2014! Helping women turn their job into a career is the goal. For those who are still struggling to find a job, we will offer support, additional training and resources to keep them moving forward as they march toward career success in work and life.
Dress for Success provides each woman with a business suit when she has a job interview. When she successfully lands the job, she returns to Dress for Success for up to one week's worth of business-appropriate separates. She also receives an invitation to join the Professional Women's Group, our career development and networking group, and participates in other employment retention programs such as the Career Success Center, mentoring, and career fairs.
For women who don't receive a job offer after her first interview, the Quad Cities affiliate is in the process of establishing a Career Success Center where our clients will receive support during their job search process. A Career Specialist will help refine her resume and job search skills and provide additional interview appropriate feedback. Networking with other women who are currently in a job search will also be provided.
Dress for Success serves job-ready women by referral only from non-profit organizations including domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters, community colleges, vocational schools, job-training programs and others. Feel free to recommend a potential Quad Cities area Referral Partner.
