Mission Statement

Camp Max Straus serves underpriviledged children who primarily come from single (or substitute), parent homes. The camp is a non-profit social service program that assists children who reside in Los Angeles County. All of the program offered by the camp are open to children of all races and denominations.

Description

Sports Buddies and Arts Buddies are coed, multi-racial, non-denominational free mentoring programs.

The goal of each of our mentoring programs is to make a difference in the lives of children 7-12 years old, that mainly come from single (or substitute), parent homes. Both programs are set in a non-academic, non-competitive and supportive environment.

The programs allow the children to experience positive relationships through supervised, structure activities. They learn important skills necessary for sel-respect, integrity, and positive peer relationships.

I attended in the early 60's and it was an enriching experience that I remember to this day. I got to meet new kids and sleep away from home. Great activities and staff. I returned to volunteer as an adult in the Sport Buddies program. It's an awesome camp that can help kids in so many ways.
