Mission Statement

The Sonoma Humane Society has a long and proud history of leading the fight to end overpopulation and rescue, rehabilitate and place thousands of animals into loving homes. Founded in 1931, we are non-profit, charitable organization funded solely with donations from individuals, businesses and foundations. In 2004, a new 33,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility was built to provide even more space and necessary services for homeless pets and allowed us to reach out and serve more people and pet owners in the community. The Humane Society's high level of medical care, socialization and training for the animals of Sonoma County sets us apart from other shelters and is an example of the care every animal needs and deserves.

Our Mission

Sonoma Humane Society - ensuring every
animal receives protection, compassion,
love and care.

Description

The Sonoma Humane Society relies on nearly 200 volunteers to keep our life-saving programs running strong. Whether you like to socialize with the animals, help out at events or work in the office, pet supply store or hospital, we need you. Without volunteers, we would not be able to offer all of the services and programs that we do today. Did you know that our Paws to Shop Pet Supply Store is solely run & operated by dedicated volunteers? Volunteers that help bring in over $50,000 each year to support our animals and life-saving programs.

Volunteering is a rewarding and fun experience. Our volunteers have made lifelong friends and benefited from networking at the Humane Society, meeting other active, concerned individuals in the community. Many have become employees of the Humane Society or Members of our Board.
