Description

The World Chess Hall of Fame is a nonprofit, collecting institution situated in the heart of Saint Louis. The Hall of Fame is the only institution of its kind and will offer a variety of programming to explore the dynamic relationship between art and chess. The Hall of Fame will offer educational outreach initiatives to promote chess and the proven cognitive and behavioral benefits it offers players.

Saint Louis is quickly becoming a national and international chess destination. The success of the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis has brought international attention to our city. The opening of the World Chess Hall of Fame will continue to garner support from the chess community. The scope of the Hall of Fame, however, is not limited to chess enthusiast. It is an arts-based institution that will present exhibitions of artistic and historical significance from nationally and internationally recognized artists and collectors. Chess, like art, is an expression of inspiration and creativity, warranting recognition as a vital cultural and educational resource in our community.

Community partnerships with other arts-based institutions will continue to enrich the cultural landscape of our city and diversify the exhibitions presented by the World Chess Hall of Fame, providing unique and exciting ways for visitors to experience the art of chess and its educational value. By enhancing public understanding and appreciation for chess, the Hall of Fame will serve as a catalyst for the advancement, development and understanding of the game. Our mission aims to extend the scope of the museum to include broadest possible audience and continue to grow the community of arts and education community in Saint Louis.
