Mission Statement

The purpose of the Beaver Creek Adult Center (BCAC) is to provide a facility and organization to serve the varied needs of the residents, especially those of retirement age, in the unincorporated Lake Montezuma-Rimrock-McGuireville area in southeastern Yavapai County.

Description

The Adult Center is open to the public during the day for folks to come socialize, have a snack, have internet access, check a book out from the library, find resources and attend various activities. The Beaver Buggy in conjunction with the Adult Center picks up area residents and takes them to doctor appointments, grocery shopping, to run errands, and to just do something fun. We are working on outreach to serve more people in the community with both services.

I've lived in this area 12 years and have appreciated the services offered by the Adult Center from the beginning. BCAC recently sponsored a community van (Beaver Creek Transit) in collaboration with other organizations to serve the transportation needs of seniors, disabled, and others in this out-of-the-way unincorporated area of the County. This has been a tremendous success in its first 7 months. I schedule rides and drive the van, and it has been one of the most rewarding volunteer efforts I ever made. I've met wonderful people and become more familiar with the area. What a great opportunity for someone who likes people and likes to drive!

I am involved with many organizations in the Beaver Creek community, including the Beaver Creek Adult Center, and have personally used both the Adult Center and the Beaver Buggy services over the course of the past month. It is conveniently located in central Lake Montezuma, and the facility is accessible to everyone (it's simply a short walk from my own apartment) and a great place to stay connected to what's going on in the community. With this year's AmeriCorps VISTA member, Ashley Johns, planning various activities, I'd be on the lookout for some new and exciting things happening at the Adult Center!
