Mission Statement
The Essex County CASA Program recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect.
Description
After 40 hours of training, each volunteer/advocate is appointed to a case by the Juvenile Court Judge to gather all relevant information about the assigned children and visit them monthly. The volunteer then uses that knowledge to prepare an informed, objective written report for the judge each time the case is heard in court. Staff monitor and offer support to the volunteers.
