Mission Statement
The mission of the International Accordion Festival is to celebrate and explore the instrument's local identity and global reach, to preserve and present the accordion music traditions of ethnic, regional and national cutlures worldwide and to educate audiences about the many related free-reed instruments central to these musics.
Description
In 2011 the International Accordion Festival will return to the historic downtown La Villita in San Antonio on October 7-9, 2011. The festial will feature approximately 15 - 20 ensembles or artists representing Texas, the United States and the world beyond.
October 7 - Friday evening concert at Arneson River Theatre to kick off the festival gate open at 6pm. FREE admission.
October 8 - All-day festival with workshops during daylight hours, 4 stages of music ranging from intimate to large scale. Gates open at noon. FREE admission.
October 9 - All-day festival with workshops during daylight hours, 4 stages of music ranging from intimate to large scale. Finale performance on Maverick stage to bring the 2012 festival to completion. Gates open at noon. FREE admission.
