Description
The
Independence Academy of Indiana Inc. (IA), a private, not-for-profit school dedicated
to serving students with high-functioning autism, (HFA) and Asperger's syndrome,
(AS) in grades 5 - 12. The school opened
in 2008 near the Butler campus in Indianapolis, and is the only school in
Indiana that solely serves these students.
The Independence Academy
focuses on finding and maximizing each student's academic, emotional and social
potential. Unlike other schools that serve a broad range of learning
disabilities and focus primarily on academics, we specialize in serving
students with high-functioning autism and Asperger Syndrome. We balance
academic and life-skills development and work with families to develop a unique
set of goals for each child. Our kids thrive in a community created
specifically for them by a staff personally experienced in HFA and who are
deeply invested in their success. We believe our students are capable of
tremendous growth and success when given the right support.
