Mission Statement

Youth Hope Inc. is a non profit organization dedicated to the prevention of drug and alcohol use inSan Bernardino andRiversideCounties adolescent population. Our goal is to significantly reduce substance abuse among the adolescent population in the Inland Empire through the education of youth inSan Bernardino andRiverside counties.

Working with the Riverside County Department of Mental Health and the Department of Probation andSan BernardinoCountymany of our clients are experiencing some level of negative effects due to parental involvement inJuvenile Dependency Court. Many of our young clients have been removed from their homes and are currently living in foster/ group home care.

InSan BernardinoCountymore than 5,400 children live in foster care. Those children were not only abused and/or neglected but as a result, removed from their homes and families. Sadly, many also become victims again in an overwhelmed child welfare system that cannot pay close attention to each child's individual needs and wants.

Youth Hope Inc. provides information, education, cession, and other related services to members of the San Bernardino and Riverside communities regardless of an individual's ability to pay. Since 2000 Youth Hope Inc. ofSan Bernardino has been dedicated to providing the community with effective tools for personal growth.

Description

Youth Hope Inc. works year round to provide our clients with the tools required to promote mental health and social stability. Our professional staff encourages individuals to develop positive relations within the family as well as the community. Our goal is to provide them with the tools to make positive progress towards the goal of mental health and family reunification. In the coming year we anticipate serving an increased number of clients.

Luggage Collection Drive is held year round in an effort to collect "lovingly used" or new soft sided luggage. Many children in foster care are relocated under less then desirable circumstances, some being removed from their homes with their worldly belongings tossed into a black trash bag. For these children luggage can offer a small sense of permanence. Being forced to relocate more than ten times in twelve months can have a negative effect on a child, now imagine being forced to keep all the things you love in a trash bag. Something as small as a piece of new luggage can offer a young child the idea that they really do matter and that their feelings are important.

Holiday Celebration Collection is held June, July and August to provide our clients as well as several local organizations, with complete holiday dinners during the months of November and December. For Thanksgiving our goal is to provide 25 families with complete turkey dinners, including if necessary the cooking materials required to prepare and serve them. Collecting non-perishable food items, whole turkeys and gift certificates in order to provide families with a healthy holiday meal they can share with their families. During the month of December Youth Hope Inc. works to provide families with a completeHoliday celebration. Several events are held during the months of November and December offering parents an opportunity to create magical family memories and gifts for their children during the holidays.

Back to School in Style is held during the month of August to provide children and their families with the supplies required to prepare children to return to school with the clothing and supplies they need. Youth Hope Inc. collects donations of new and "lovingly used" shoes and clothing to be distributed to needy children in theInland Empire. Study backpacks filled with age appropriate school supplies are distributed to needy children withinRiverside andSan BernardinoCounties.
